~ THINGS PERTAINING TO THE KINGDOM ~
To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion (experience) by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
(Acts 1:3)
The "new covenant" did not come into effect until Jesus was crucified. Jesus spent forty days on earth between his crucifixion and his resurrection preparing his followers to both step into and to teach the new kingdom principles. The concluding chapters of each of the four Gospels along with the first chapter of Acts tell of the things that Jesus spoke to them during those days.
Although Jesus spoke many things to them before his crucifixion, this 40 day period marked the first time that his words were spoken to those that were governed by the new covenant and had ears to actually understand what he spoke to them. The words that He spoke during this time were important because they transitioned the people from a position of having a relationship with God according to the law or as a servant, to having a relationship with God as a son, as a friend, as an heir. Many of the things we have heard taught in these areas today are actually religious based and slanted toward Old Testament theology.
The teachings in this study are based on the things that Jesus spoke to them pertaining to the kingdom of God.
